Description
SV-Audio FRIDA – A Compact Loudspeaker with a Complete Design
Not every high-end listening room can accommodate a large floorstanding loudspeaker. FRIDA was developed around a different idea: a compact two-way system that takes musical balance seriously while becoming a considered part of the room.
The loudspeaker and its purpose-designed stand form one sculptural silhouette. Behind the carefully machined aluminium front is a 29 mm silk-dome ring radiator partnered with a single 5-inch mid-woofer. It is an intentionally focused design, with driver integration and room suitability more important than an imposing cabinet.

Where the SV-Audio Story Began
FRIDA is more than the company’s compact model: it was the first loudspeaker to bring the SV-Audio acoustic philosophy and design identity into one finished product. Development began in 2017, giving the team time to refine its cabinet, crossover and mechanical details before it became the reference point for later models.
Its name recalls the Old Norse fríðr, a word associated with beauty and peace. That origin fits an object intended to belong in a living space as naturally as it belongs in a listening session.
An Integrated Stand, Not an Afterthought
The dedicated stand is part of FRIDA’s design language. It supports the compact cabinet at an appropriate listening height and gives the complete loudspeaker a unified appearance, rather than leaving stand choice entirely to the customer.
The machined stand details also distinguish FRIDA from generic bookshelf speakers. For anyone planning a carefully arranged living room, this integrated visual and practical approach is a meaningful part of the purchase.

One Mid-Woofer and a Ring Radiator
FRIDA uses a 5-inch mid-woofer with a woven polypropylene cone and phase plug. Its material and construction are chosen for damping and structural consistency across the bass and midrange. Above it, a 29 mm silk-dome ring radiator with a neodymium motor system reproduces high frequencies.
With just two drivers, the crossover must manage their transition carefully. That simplicity is not the same as effortless design: it makes matching the acoustic behaviour of the drivers especially important to tonal balance and the presentation of voices and instruments.

Crossover, Wiring and Construction
SV-Audio refines FRIDA’s crossover through measurements and listening, with particular attention to time and phase behaviour. The manufacturer specifies low-resistance air-core coils, aluminium foil capacitors and ultra-low-inductance resistors, alongside silver-plated oxygen-free copper internal conductors.
The aluminium front baffle brings precision machining into a visually distinctive shape. Together with the stand and carefully finished cabinet, it underlines why FRIDA is best understood as a complete compact system rather than simply a small speaker placed on a support.
Room Suitability and Amplifier Matching
FRIDA is recommended for rooms up to approximately 30 m² and for placement at least 30 cm from the rear wall. With a nominal impedance of 6 ohms and specified sensitivity of 86 dB ±2 dB, it benefits from thoughtful amplifier matching rather than relying on its compact dimensions as a guide.
SV-Audio quotes a recommended amplifier range of 30–150 watts. Chameleon Audio can advise on practical pairing, listening distance and positioning, especially where furniture and room boundaries limit placement options.

Colours and a Personal Finish
Standard Satin Gloss FRIDA cabinets are Pure Black with Bentley Copper or Matte Black fronts. High Gloss options include Black Pearl, Crème White, Reference Pearl Gray and Deep Pearl Blue with the designated matching fronts.
Custom two- and three-layer automotive colours are available by request. Because the stand is such a prominent part of FRIDA’s appearance, selecting its finish alongside the cabinet can help create a coherent look for the room.
