Parallel Single-Ended WE-211 Output Stage

The heart of the Phasemation MA-5000 is its parallel single-ended WE-211 output stage.

Two PSVANE WE-211 tubes operate in pure Class A with dedicated fixed-bias power supplies designed to maintain stable and optimal operating conditions.

By using the WE-211 in parallel, Phasemation achieves more than 45W of output while preserving the simplicity and expressive qualities associated with single-ended triode amplification.

Transformer-Coupled 300B Driver Stage

The WE-211 output tubes are driven by a PSVANE WE-300B through transformer coupling.

Rather than using a conventional driver circuit, Phasemation employs the highly regarded 300B triode as the driver stage, operating at an optimized point to provide stable control of the WE-211 output tubes.

This arrangement is designed to combine low impedance, excellent linearity and powerful control of the output stage.

All-Triode Non-Feedback Architecture

The MA-5000 uses an all-triode amplification chain consisting of ECC803, 300B and WE-211 vacuum tubes.

Phasemation deliberately avoids global negative feedback, aiming to preserve dynamic contrast, natural harmonic structure and musical expression.

This non-feedback topology forms one of the core design principles of the MA-5000 and is central to its sonic identity.

Lundahl Interstage and Output Transformers

Phasemation selected custom transformers from Lundahl of Sweden for both the interstage and output sections.

The interstage transformer uses independent secondary windings, allowing individual fixed-bias control for each WE-211 tube and helping maintain stable operation at the optimum operating point.

The output transformer is specially designed to drive loudspeaker loads between 4Ω and 8Ω.

Balanced and Unbalanced Inputs

The Phasemation MA-5000 supports both balanced and unbalanced input connections.

A transformer-based attenuator also functions as a balanced-to-unbalanced converter and allows gain adjustment in several steps.

Independent Dual Power Transformers

The 300B driver stage and the WE-211 output stage are supplied by separate power transformers.

This independent power architecture helps prevent mutual interference between the low-level input amplification stage and the high-current speaker-driving stage.

The power transformers are mechanically isolated from the chassis using anti-vibration rubber to reduce the transmission of unwanted mechanical energy.
