The Threaded VTA Adjuster” suits all decks. It is simply a thin threaded collar which threads onto the older style threaded base of a Origin Live or Rega tonearm. As the collar is rotated it raises and lowers the height of the arm. Once the right height is attained you simply clamp the arm to the board as normal using the large Rega nut.
Accurate VTA Adjustment for Older Origin Live & Rega Arms
It is recommended to use an infinitely adjustable VTA adjuster with the Rega or OL1 tonearms. The advantages are:
Quick adjustment for tuning by ear – it takes a long time to change spacing washers and you can forget the sound differences.
Infinite adjustment – adjustment can be heard to the nearest mm because height accuracy is important.
This adjuster works well on all older style Rega arms with the threaded base (as opposed to the newer 3-point mounting). It is also used on older style Origin Live arms which did not include integral VTA adjustment. Fortunately, Rega decks and many others have the required diameter already as it needs a 24mm diameter hole or over in the armboard to work.
The threaded VTA adjuster initially raises the height of the Rega arm by 2mm due to the top flange thickness. It can then raise the arm further by approximately 10mm or more depending on the thickness of your armboard. 10mm applies if your armboard is 16mm thick. If it is 20mm thick, then you will be able to raise the arm by 6mm and so on. Usually, a small adjustment of 3mm is considered a maximum.
This adjuster works well on the Linn LP12 as well as Rega decks.
Please Note: You need a mounting hole of 24mm diameter or over. If your armboard is less than 8mm thick, please let us know as we will need to add a spacing washer to your order.
