Description
HiFiMAN Edition XV Open-Back Planar Magnetic Headphones – Price & Specifications
The HiFiMAN Edition XV is the latest evolution of the Edition series, combining a large open-back planar magnetic architecture with HIFIMAN’s new-generation diaphragm technology, enhanced magnet design and improved comfort.
Developed as the successor to the highly successful Edition XS, the Edition XV delivers a more refined and mature presentation while retaining the wide soundstage, fast transient response and high level of detail that made the Edition family so popular.

Next-Generation Planar Magnetic Performance
At the heart of the HiFiMAN Edition XV is a large planar magnetic driver engineered for extremely low moving mass and precise diaphragm control.
Planar magnetic technology distributes the driving force across a much larger surface area than a conventional dynamic driver, helping reduce distortion while improving transient response, imaging and low-level detail retrieval.
The Edition XV builds on this foundation with significant improvements to both the diaphragm and magnetic structure.
Neo Supernano Diaphragm Gen.2
The Edition XV introduces HIFIMAN’s Neo Supernano Diaphragm Gen.2, an even thinner version of the ultra-light diaphragm technology used in earlier Edition models.
According to HIFIMAN, the new diaphragm is approximately 60% of the thickness of the diaphragm used in the Edition XS.
Lower moving mass allows the driver to respond more quickly to the music signal, improving transient speed, micro-detail and dynamic expression.

Enhanced Magnet Design
The Edition XV also introduces an enhanced magnet system designed to improve the efficiency and control of the planar magnetic driver.
The optimized magnetic structure helps create a more uniform driving force across the diaphragm while reducing unwanted acoustic interference.
Together with the lighter diaphragm, this contributes to cleaner transients, lower distortion and a more transparent presentation.

Large Open-Back Soundstage
The Edition XV uses HIFIMAN’s familiar large asymmetric open-back earcup architecture, allowing the planar drivers to operate with minimal acoustic restriction.
This contributes to a wide and spacious soundstage with clear separation between instruments and an excellent sense of depth.
The presentation is particularly effective with classical music, jazz, acoustic recordings, live performances and complex modern productions where spatial information is important.
A More Relaxed and Musical Presentation
Compared with earlier Edition models, the Edition XV has been developed with a smoother and more relaxed tonal balance.
The mid-bass and lower midrange have been refined to provide greater body and musical weight, while the upper frequencies remain detailed without becoming unnecessarily aggressive.
This makes the Edition XV particularly attractive for long listening sessions and for listeners who want planar magnetic resolution without an overly analytical presentation.
New Composite Headband
A major improvement over the Edition XS is the new composite headband system.
The redesigned suspension structure distributes the headphone’s weight more evenly across the head and uses rotatable hinges to improve fit.
At approximately 452g, the Edition XV is not an ultra-light headphone, but the improved headband design helps maintain comfort during longer listening sessions.

12Ω Impedance and 92dB Sensitivity
The Edition XV has a nominal impedance of 12Ω and a sensitivity of 92dB.
Its relatively low impedance means it can be used with many modern desktop DAC/headphone amplifiers and high-quality portable audio players.
However, as with most planar magnetic headphones, a capable amplifier with good current delivery will help extract maximum dynamics, bass control and soundstage authority.
Detachable Dual 3.5mm Connections
The Edition XV uses dual 3.5mm connectors at the earcups, allowing the cable to be replaced easily.
The supplied 1.5m cable terminates in a 3.5mm plug, while a 3.5mm to 6.35mm adapter is included for connection to full-size headphone amplifiers.

Edition XV vs Edition XS
The Edition XV is the direct evolution of the popular Edition XS and introduces several important technical and ergonomic upgrades.
The new Neo Supernano Diaphragm Gen.2 is thinner than the diaphragm used in the Edition XS, while the enhanced magnet structure improves driver control.
The Edition XV also introduces a substantially redesigned composite headband, addressing one of the most commonly discussed comfort differences between earlier Edition models and newer HIFIMAN designs.
Sonically, the Edition XV is tuned toward a smoother and slightly more relaxed presentation while retaining the large soundstage, fast response and high resolution associated with the Edition series.
Who Is the HiFiMAN Edition XV For?
The Edition XV is an excellent choice for listeners who want a serious open-back planar magnetic headphone with a large soundstage, high resolution and a smoother tonal balance than some earlier HIFIMAN designs.
It is especially well suited to desktop headphone systems built around a quality DAC and headphone amplifier.
Its combination of spacious imaging, fast transient response and improved comfort also makes it suitable for long listening sessions across a wide range of musical genres.
