CANOR PH 2.10 Product of the Year 2022
The Slovak manufacturer Canor may have only been present in Germany in its current form since 2020, but it looks back on more than 25 years of history and has a strong reputation among Western manufacturers, who have their components produced by Canor for their own products. This expertise, especially in tube circuitry, is concentrated in the PH 2.10 phono preamp, which relies on a pair of 12AX7 and 12AT7 tubes for amplification. The tubes are carefully matched using the company’s in-house “Aladdin” measurement system, while special metal sleeves with damping springs suppress microphonics. Additionally, a proprietary process is used on the circuit boards to mill away material around the traces to minimize stray losses. The entire design is focused on ultra-low noise and the consistent avoidance of any losses. Sonically, this results in effortless resolution without any harshness – even dense soundscapes are cleanly spread out without losing their cohesion.
