Description

CANOR Essential Line
CANOR Crius H5S
Solid-State Headphone Amplifier · DAC · Preamplifier
The CANOR Crius H5S brings together three essential
high-end audio functions within one sophisticated and compact component.
A fully discrete headphone amplifier, dual-mono digital converter and
balanced preamplifier operate as a unified platform engineered for
transparency, flexibility and musical control.
Highlights
01
The versatile 3-in-1 headphone amplifier, DAC & preamplifier
with a fully discrete architecture.
02
The dual-mono ES9039Q2M DAC design employs fully balanced,
discrete analog output stages and Optical, Coaxial and USB inputs.
03
Flexible balanced and unbalanced connectivity paired with a balanced
BYPASS mode and powered by an internal power supply.

Headphone Connectivity
Balanced and unbalanced headphone outputs provide direct compatibility
with a wide range of high-end headphones and connection standards.
Headphone Amplification
CANOR Crius H5S Headphone Amplifier
The Crius H5S uses a fully discrete solid-state headphone amplifier
designed to combine substantial current capability with extremely
low noise and distortion.
Its adaptive bias architecture moves seamlessly between
Class A and Class AB operation, maintaining refinement
at lower listening levels while providing generous power when required.
From sensitive headphones to demanding planar magnetic designs,
the H5S is engineered to maintain control, clarity and dynamic freedom.

Fully Discrete Design
Carefully selected discrete circuitry keeps the analog signal path
direct and free from unnecessary components.
Analog Engineering
Architecture & Technology
CANOR designed the Crius H5S around a completely discrete analog
topology, avoiding operational amplifiers and coupling capacitors
throughout the analog signal path.
Instead of relying on heavy global feedback, carefully optimized
local feedback is used to achieve excellent linearity, low distortion
and stable operation.
Every stage is designed around the same objective: preserve as much
musical information as possible while minimizing unnecessary circuitry
between source and listener.

Dual-Mono Digital Architecture
Separate ESS ES9039Q2M converters for left and right channels
provide a dedicated conversion path for each side of the stereo signal.
Digital Architecture
CANOR Crius H5S Dual-Mono DAC
Digital conversion is handled by
two ESS ES9039Q2M DAC chips, one dedicated to each
channel in a dual-mono configuration.
The conversion stage feeds fully balanced discrete analog circuitry,
maintaining the same uncompromising design philosophy used throughout
the amplifier.
USB-C playback supports high-resolution digital audio up to
PCM 32-bit / 768 kHz,
DoP DSD256 and
Native DSD512.

Digital Fine Tuning
Nine selectable filters allow subtle adjustment of the digital
presentation to better match headphones, loudspeakers and system character.
Digital Fine Tuning
Nine Selectable Digital Filters
The Crius H5S provides
nine selectable digital filters, allowing the listener
to fine-tune the digital presentation according to headphones,
loudspeakers, system character and personal preference.
This additional level of adjustment provides greater flexibility
without compromising the transparency and resolution of the core
converter architecture.

Flexible Connectivity
Balanced XLR and RCA connections, dedicated XLR BYPASS and multiple
digital inputs allow the Crius H5S to integrate easily into both
headphone and loudspeaker-based systems.
System Integration
More Than a Headphone Amplifier
The Crius H5S is designed not only for reference headphone listening,
but also to operate as the central control component of a complete
high-end audio system.
Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog connections allow it to serve
as a full preamplifier, while USB-C, Optical and Coaxial digital inputs
provide straightforward integration with streamers, transports
and computers.
A dedicated XLR BYPASS makes integration into an
existing balanced analog system particularly flexible.

Precision Control
Fine left-to-right adjustment is accessed through the circular
display, allowing precise stereo image correction without disrupting
the listening experience.
Precision Control
Superior Balance Control
Precise left-to-right balance adjustment allows the stereo image
to be fine-tuned for headphones, loudspeaker positioning or individual
listening requirements.
The function is easily accessible through the integrated display,
maintaining the intuitive and elegant operation of the Crius H5S.

Industrial Design
Aluminum, steel and glass combine with CANOR’s circular display
concept to create a compact component with a distinctive premium identity.
Industrial Design
Compact Outside. Serious Inside.
High-grade aluminum, steel and glass come together in a compact,
rigid chassis with the substantial feel expected from a CANOR
high-end component.
A distinctive 1.8-inch circular display is integrated
directly into the volume control, combining system information with
a clean and minimalist interface.
The high-performance internal power supply also removes the need
for a bulky external power adapter.
