Description
Fezz Audio Gaia MM/MC Phono Preamplifier
High-End MM/MC Phono Stage | Burson Supreme V5i | Toroidy.pl Audio-Grade Transformer | Made in Poland
The Fezz Audio Gaia MM/MC Phono Preamplifier is a carefully engineered analogue component designed to reveal the musical richness, fine detail and natural dynamics of vinyl recordings.
Built around premium components, including the acclaimed Burson Audio Supreme V5i operational amplifier and a stabilised power supply featuring an audio-grade toroidal transformer manufactured by Toroidy.pl, the Gaia Evolution delivers an elegant combination of technical sophistication and musical expression.
Designed for compatible Moving Magnet (MM) and Moving Coil (MC) cartridges, it integrates naturally with both solid-state and vacuum-tube amplification systems.
The Gaia offers a presentation characterised by rich midrange textures, fast transients, excellent transparency, an expansive soundstage and a remarkably quiet background.
Discover precision analogue reproduction with the Fezz Audio Gaia MM/MC, available from Chameleon Audio with dedicated turntable and cartridge matching advice.

Rediscover the Musical Beauty of Vinyl
A high-quality phono stage is essential for extracting the delicate electrical information generated by a vinyl cartridge.
The Gaia MM/MC amplifies the low-level cartridge signal and applies accurate RIAA playback equalisation, allowing the original recording to be reproduced through a conventional line-level audio system.
Fezz Audio’s design philosophy focuses on preserving tonal richness and dynamic expression without obscuring subtle musical information.
The result is an engaging analogue listening experience with natural vocals, convincing instrumental body, articulate bass and a spacious stereo image.
Burson Audio Supreme V5i Operational Amplifier
At the heart of the Gaia Evolution is the Burson Audio Supreme V5i, a premium hybrid operational amplifier chosen by Fezz Audio for the phono amplification circuitry.
The V5i employs a hybrid design that combines discrete circuitry with integrated components in a compact package.
Within the Gaia, the Burson amplifier works in combination with selected passive components and the dedicated power supply to reproduce the minute electrical signals from MM and MC cartridges.
The complete circuit implementation is designed to balance musical refinement, controlled distortion and a low noise floor.
Audio-Grade Toroidal Transformer by Toroidy.pl
Power supply quality is particularly important in phono preamplifiers, where the signals generated by a cartridge are measured in millivolts.
The Gaia MM/MC features a stabilised power supply with an audio-grade toroidal transformer manufactured by Toroidy.pl.
This carefully selected power supply arrangement supports stable operation of the analogue amplification stages and contributes to the electrical performance of the design.
The Gaia’s toroidal transformer and Burson V5i circuitry distinguish it from the more compact Fezz Audio Gaia Mini MM/MC, which uses an EI transformer and Burr-Brown OPA2132 operational amplifier.
Moving Magnet and Moving Coil Cartridge Compatibility
The Fezz Audio Gaia Evolution accommodates compatible MM and MC phono cartridges through dedicated amplification and loading configurations.
Moving Magnet (MM) Cartridges
The MM configuration provides a nominal gain of 53dB and a standard input impedance of 47kΩ.
This configuration is designed for compatible moving magnet cartridges and systems requiring conventional MM input loading.
Moving Coil (MC) Cartridges
The MC configuration provides a nominal gain of 60dB with an input impedance of 100Ω.
This configuration supports compatible moving coil cartridges that require additional amplification compared with conventional MM models.
Important: Moving coil cartridges vary considerably in output voltage, internal impedance and recommended loading. A fixed 100Ω input is not necessarily optimal for every MC cartridge. Chameleon Audio can assist with checking electrical compatibility before purchase.
RIAA Equalisation and Signal Accuracy
The Gaia applies standard RIAA phono equalisation, providing the complementary frequency correction required for playback of conventional vinyl records.
Accurate equalisation is essential for restoring tonal balance after the recording and cutting processes.
Fezz Audio combines RIAA equalisation with carefully selected analogue circuitry, allowing the Gaia to function as a dedicated interface between a turntable and an integrated amplifier or line-level preamplifier.
Low Noise, Transparency and Stereo Separation
The Gaia’s published technical performance includes channel separation greater than 95dB, together with signal-to-noise ratios exceeding 92dB for MM and 90dB for MC.
These measurements reflect the manufacturer’s published test conditions and illustrate the attention given to low-level signal handling.
In practical use, the final noise performance also depends on correct turntable grounding, cartridge characteristics, signal cabling and the electrical environment of the listening room.
Elegant Evolution Series Construction
Designed and manufactured in Poland, the Fezz Audio Gaia combines solid construction with the restrained contemporary styling of the Evolution Series.
Its compact enclosure measures 212 x 320 x 95mm and weighs approximately 5kg, reflecting the substantial internal power supply and chassis construction.
Various finishes allow the Gaia to complement modern and traditional high-fidelity systems. Please consult the current colour options available on the Chameleon Audio product page.

Connection and System Integration
The Gaia MM/MC can be connected to an appropriate line-level input on a solid-state or vacuum-tube amplifier.
Recommended connection:
Turntable with compatible MM/MC cartridge → Fezz Gaia MM/MC → Amplifier AUX / LINE / CD input
- Switch off the amplifier and phono preamplifier before making connections.
- Connect the turntable’s RCA signal cables to the Gaia input sockets.
- Connect the turntable ground wire to the Gaia grounding terminal where applicable.
- Connect the Gaia RCA output sockets to an appropriate line-level input on the amplifier.
- Verify the MM or MC configuration and the cartridge manufacturer’s recommended loading.
- Connect the power supply only after checking the voltage rating of the unit.
- Switch on the system according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Never connect the Gaia’s output to another phono input. The amplified and equalised output should feed a compatible line-level input.
