LAiV Crescendo BEAT Dual-Output Linear Power Supply

The LAiV Crescendo BEAT is a dual-output linear power supply designed to deliver clean, stable DC power to digital audio components. Two independent rails remain active simultaneously, allowing a single BEAT to power two compatible devices at the same time.

With a dedicated 15V / 2A output and a 5V / 3A output, the Crescendo BEAT combines traditional linear power-supply engineering with modern system flexibility, low-noise regulation and comprehensive protection.

Two Rails. Both Always On.

The LAiV Crescendo BEAT provides two fixed DC outputs simultaneously: 15V at 2A and 5V at 3A. This allows one power supply to operate two compatible components at once.

Rather than using adjustable voltage stages, each rail is optimized for one fixed voltage, helping maintain stable regulation and consistent performance.

Traditional Linear Power Architecture

At the heart of the Crescendo BEAT is a 70VA toroidal transformer, combined with Schottky rectification and nearly 18,000µF of filter capacitance.

Unlike switch-mode power supplies, the BEAT avoids high-frequency switching entirely, reducing one of the common sources of electrical noise in digital audio systems.

Two-Stage Linear Regulation

Each output rail uses two-stage linear regulation. The first stage reduces mains ripple and load variations, while the second low-noise stage further refines the DC supply.

This layered regulation helps keep noise extremely low even when the connected equipment is drawing real operating current.

Measured Low-Noise Performance

The LAiV Crescendo BEAT is specified at ≤10µVrms output noise with no load and ≤50µVrms at full load, with ripple rejection exceeding 82dB.

These figures are measured under both idle and loaded conditions, giving a more realistic indication of how the supply performs in an active audio system.

Built for Digital Audio Components

The 5V output is suitable for compatible streamers and devices such as the Harmony µDDC, while the 15V rail is intended for products including the Crescendo VERSE and Harmony µDAC.

The BEAT can also power non-LAiV equipment, provided the voltage, current requirement, connector size and polarity are compatible.

Protection and System Safety

The Crescendo BEAT includes protection against over-current, over-voltage, over-temperature and short-circuit conditions. These safeguards are built into the power supply to protect both the BEAT and connected equipment.

A mains selector on the underside allows operation from either 100–127V or 220–240V, making the unit suitable for worldwide use.
