The Phasemation PP-2200 is the new reference moving-coil cartridge developed as the successor to the long-established PP-2000.

Created after an extensive review of the magnetic circuit, housing structure and key mechanical components, the PP-2200 represents a new stage in Phasemation’s cartridge development.

Its design focuses on improved resolution of fine musical information, a more immersive soundstage and greater mechanical stability, while preserving the natural tonal character and musical expression associated with Phasemation’s reference MC cartridges.

The PP-2200 also introduces a newly developed titanium body, redesigned connection terminals and a premium wooden presentation case inspired by traditional Japanese Yosegi craftsmanship.

A New Reference After the PP-2000

Development of the Phasemation PP-2200 began as production of the previous PP-2000 became increasingly difficult due to changes in component processing and supply.

Phasemation thoroughly reexamined the magnetic balance to achieve more efficient power generation and greater control of the cartridge generator.

New Titanium Housing

The housing of the Phasemation PP-2200 has undergone a major redesign.

The previous duralumin body construction has been replaced by titanium, providing significantly greater rigidity.

The housing shape has also been revised so that contact points are consolidated into a single location, reducing unwanted mechanical interaction and helping eliminate sound blurring.

Precision machining of the housing is carried out by Yuki Precision Co., a specialist engineering company also associated with the high-performance AP-01 turntable.

The combination of titanium construction and precision machining contributes to a clearer and more focused presentation while maintaining natural resonance and musical flow.

Redesigned Cartridge Terminals

Installing delicate shell leads onto an MC cartridge can be challenging, particularly when the connectors are tight.

The PP-2200 therefore introduces tapered connection terminals.

The narrowed terminal tips make it easier to attach shell leads smoothly and securely, reducing the risk of accidental damage during installation.

Japanese Yosegi-Inspired Presentation Case
